This is my second period English fina...

This is my second period English final. The topic was to pick and choose three of these ten different question that were supplied to us. I was listening to Mr. Sutherland about his feelings on which questions would be to choose in order to write the demanded length for this assignment. Instead of doing this final similar to my first semesters one, i am going to write for quality rather than quantity. i know i have said this in my reasent "reviews", but this time i am writing this for my self rather than for a grade. i am going to look back on this blog next year and really use this to my advantage while i am writing english, history, spanish, and etc. papers.

i have decided to choose question number two to analyse first because i feel it will be the easiest to open with. i feel its the best for the fact that it can best also because it will help me if i fall in to writers block cause this tp[ic is very open and will help me very much... Where do you get your ideas for blog post topics? What inspires you to write? well i get my best inspiration mainly from school. like from my different classes, friends in that i spend the most time with, and sometimes even about football and practice.

So, when i write about my classes it doesnt really tend to be happy but it is my best writings specific to school, for reasons that i am not really sure of. but if i had to guess or assume what was the cause of this weirdness, i would have to guess that it is because i do not like the majority of my classes. and the reason for the best writing id probably based on that i am well "educated" on the subject. as in educated, i mean like i know about it the best compared to any other subject basically because it is my life. so from this topic i can really understand that personally, the better i know the topic i am talking about, the better my writing will be.

The next thing that i am going to try to analyze about the inspiration of my writing is friends. i have never really writen on my blog about people that i hang out with, such as friends. But little works that i have done, on my own while i am at home working on becoming a better writer, are mainly topically based on my friends. i think i am more inclined to writing about my friends is because i am the most comfortable in this topic and that i really like talking about them and the joy i get from them. like my friends frank, ian the mclens, and my girl friend and how i have really funny conversations with them and how i laugh a whole bunch while i am in there presents. from this topic, i have learned i need to like the subject of my writing and that i need to be comfortable talking about it.

Now on to futbol americano! my favorite subject off all to write about. i think i like this one so much is because i am very proud about the moderate "skill"level i posses in this sport. i guess it is bragging with out any body really to really judge me for doing it. it is one of the few things i think i am really proud about so i think i like to express my love to the game and the satisfaction i get from playing with my friends on the football feild and the comradory that i am building with them that i will always have. and here is a link to my blog about a football game of me bragging... here it is. And this also.

And about my family. The most inspiration of all! i think it is the most inspirational because i just down right love them so much. they are my honestly my best friends so i kind of tend to get competitive with them... Encinal game. i think this explains my competitiveness quit well.

The second question that i have chosen is question number four. this is it, How do the things you read influence what you write about or how you write it? i am not all that quit sure but i have really noticed i some what mimick the style and "mood" and genre of writing that is being portrayed in front of me. i do not really know if this, i do not know how to fraze this, trait helps my writing per say but it helps me get throught an assignment. like the book reviews and even in one of my blog posts about the Iraqy War. some of my friends did not believe i wrote it because of the words i used in that weekly blog post.

about the monthly reviews, i have found my self, all three times writing in the way that the authors of each book wrote. it is almost like a trans.. Old book review. this book review was on a book that was the appitamy of a chick book. but i honestly really liked it. it was very well put together. but anyways, the book was writen by new york times best seller, Nicholas Sparks. he is a very very good writer. and i really loved his writing. he inspired me to write with a lot more detail, and a whole much more abundance of sensory words that i have learned really enhance your writing. well i guess it depends on the topic that you are writing about.

The way i am affected by the book, "nickeled and dimed" was that my writing was boring. its kind of weird to say but i really think it is true that it got significantly boring... here is the blog. as you can see, if you clicked the appropriate link, i kind of just rambled. like it was to the point that i was not able to finish reading that blog entry. but on the other hand, this "trait" really does help me. all i need to do is just learn how to filter and basically use appropriate writing styles to mimic. in order to use this trait to my advantage i need to practice over the summer. when i look back on to this "blog review" i want to be able to say i have learned. durring the summer break i am going to read different works by different authors of different genres and select the few styles i want to go farther in depth with..

http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dgcdvm2...

If you've read other books in this same genre, how does this one compare? i have actually have read two different books of this genre. And both of these books have been written by the same author, Nicholas Sparks. The other ones were soooooooo much better though. i am totally and utterly amazed that this book is so terribly poop compared to the other books. the other books are known as the notebook and a walk to remember. they both are in the number one and number two spot in my "list" of favorite books ever read. But for some reason i do not feel that Nicholas Sparks did all that well with this book, the last song. I feel that he has really dropped the ball on this book and let down all off his readers.

In my book, the last song, Nicholas Sparks gives off like a feeling or persona that he does not want to write this or something? in the previous books sparks has put so much detail in every perfect spot. Never with too much and never with not enough. He really makes good sense of situations of panic, love, and maybe even the occasional sorrow. In the great book, a walk to remember, Sparks does a superb job in capturing the writer and making them "bond"/ connect with the characters that were portrayed. like he uses people that we would imagine very well because they remind us of people in our life. in A walk to remember, Nicholas Sparks does really well by putting in sensory adjectives and descriptions that as you can imagine, enhance your image of he scenes and concepts that (without the details) difficult to completely grasp. Even though i kind of liked the book, like i said, Nicholas Sparks really "dropped the ball" with the book, the last song. personally i feel let down to the max! i am truely insulted by this man. Not only was i let down by this FOOL, his book was pretty much terrible to the max. what made it really bad to me was that it was so predictable! like you said mr. sutherland, it was so easy to predict. for example, "After being crushed my the volleyball boy, she stammered off with her ruined shirt while he gazed at her until she disappeared into the sunset ....". like you for sure can imagine that5 she is going to have a relation ship of some sort with this fellow volleyball guy. I feel this quote has major significants because it is foreshadowing on what is coming up later in the book. it is foreshadowing that this guy, the volleyball guy, is going to come back into the story in a really big way. like some thing pertaining to those two going out or becoming really good friends and have adventures with each other. like i have heard a little about this book and movie so i kind of know what to expect. i have like put two and two together and i think that ronnie and this "popular, vollyball player" will fall in love. I really could not wait to see what would happen and what not in the near future but as the books gone on and how i have stated in this very well paragraph. even though i am not going to say it, i imagine you know how i feel about it. In conclusion of my response to the question, number six, the other books of this genre were a lot better.

Pick a character that interested you and write about them in depth. You can also analyze a relationship between two different characters.
I have decided that i will choose to analyze the character ronnie and the relationship of ronnie and her dieing father. Of to ronnie.. Ronnie in the beginning hated almost everything in her life. it sort of all started with her dad leaving three years prior to the beginning of the book. the book comes in at a pretty low point of her life after all the events of the summer happened. and then it flashed back all quick like by her mother asking her about the stuff that went down that got her in a pretty sufficient amount of trouble. It all started with her arrivel into her "new" home, well that is for the time being. She was on her way all the way from New York, where she was living with her mother. she is arriving at her fathers house in a small city in north carolina. The city is called Sands Island, even though it is not an island.

Ronnie's father left her and her little brother and her mother about three years before her deciding to come. It was when he was on tour, because he was a musician playing the piano for a semi low key band, he just decided to not come back. no phone, nothing. Nothing at to some what prepare his loving and excepting family for not being able to see him with months and months on end.. You can pretty much imagine what feelings that they were feeling about him. Ronnie, straight forward in the book, said that she hated him. Even when he came up or from where ever he was living, she would not meet with him just to talk or even get closer or even just to spend time with him, like her brother did. she dispited her brother for this because she felt that he was accepting that their father was a "bad human being". her father even made a concious effort that even her mother saw was true and sincerely from that but she was NOT having it. She hated him and she felt for those three long years, that she would never ever take him back. "Mother I dont care what he does or says, i hate him". You can basically see from that quote that she hates him.

Veronica "Ronnie" Miller won't be eig...

"Sometimes you have to be a part from people you love, but that doesn't make you love them any less. Sometimes you love them more."

Ronnie said this to her boy friend. She was refering to being apart from her parents. But of course at different times. Ronnie is seperated from different people in her family and she learns to love them more and more as time goes on.

Veronica "Ronnie" Miller won't be eighteen until the end of the summer, so she has to follow her mom's rules and is off with her younger brother, Jonah, to spend the summer with her dad in a North Carolina beach town. Ronnie hasn't talked to her dad in over three years. He left New York City and their family and moved back to his hometown. Ronnie is rebellious and having been arrested for shoplifting back home, a quiet summer in North Carolina might be the best thing for her. At least that's what her mother thinks. Ronnie arrives with the intention of ignoring her dad. On her first night there she wanders the beach and meets a girl, Blaze, who seems okay. But Blaze is addicted to Marcus, and Marcus is bad news. And Marcus is interested in Ronnie. Ronnie can tell Marcus is trouble and tries to avoid him. But the triangle will ultimately create problems.

I wasn't really expecting to like this book so much, but I did. It was an easy read and a page turner. It had a good mix of romance, family, self-discovery, suspense, etc. The book was WAY better than the movie. The movie was a complete disappointment. It would've been better without Miley Cyrus as the lead. She cannot act. I recently saw the movie. Recently meaning like about two or three hours ago with my girl friend. BOOOOOOOOO!!

The way i am going to approach this p...

Antonio Manibusan

5th period

American Genocide?

The way I am going to approach this project may be different than most of the other people who also did this assignment. I am not going to tell you my thesis statement and act like who ever is going to read this has no idea about the subject that are going to be brought up in the future... There are many different opinions and view points on the Iraqi War. This war is going on in Iraq against a group that is notoriously known. They are called al-Queda. It all started on September 11, 2001. Or did it?

Most people in the general public believe this but very many writers, professors, and all government officials that have been involved in any type of national security for The United States of America beg to differ. They all have stated that it all started with George Bush Sr. Bush Sr. and Osama bin Laden had problems in the nineties and most say that bin Laden won the battle between those two. When Bush Jr. was placed into office by accident he wanted to avenge his father by getting revenge against the al- Queda. Instead of him starting the battle with his father’s enemy, they threw the first punch.

This was September 11, 2001. One of the worst moments in American History and the first time ever that there was American blood-shed on American soil. This was the best situation for Bush to get granted the power to send troops into Iraq. Except Bush lied in order to get absolute control.

George W. Bush has been lying for numerous years about why he has placed thousands upon thousands of troops into Iraq. First he said we have to get revenge. Then he decided to change up his story and say it was to make sure the nuclear weapons have been put to a halt. Then the greatest lie yet, he said he we were helping them. We have so many casualties to our counties name though... We are not helping.

U.S. military troops in Iraq are fighting enemies that they are not sure what they look like. The bad thing about this particular problem, is that no one, knows what they look like. Apart from the ignorant and bias image that is portrayed by the government and by our parental guardians, we don’t know what our enemy looks like. Think about our enemy right now, and if you would please, imagine him. What do you imagine? No, I know exactly what you imagine. Men who are dressed to show respect, love, and loyalty to there lord king and savior. What is that, then?

The troops are told to shoot-to-kill these men. But then again the must not shoot at some one that does not LOOK like there enemy. Such as a civilian. But how do you know who is your enemy?, looks right. But your enemy wears what he wears what he wears as a religious responsibility.

If I correctly recall from my sophomore modern world history class, this falls in the category and definition almost directly corresponding to: deliberate and systematic destruction, in whole or in part, of an ethnic, racial, religious, or national group. The definition that I just stated is the definition of Genocide. Weird.

"Some say that Iraq is not a part of the broader war on terror. They claim that the organization called al Qaeda in Iraq is an Iraqi phenomenon -- that it's independent of Osama bin Laden and it's not interested in attacking America. That would be news to Osama bin Laden. I presented intelligence that clearly establishes this connection. The facts are that al Qaeda terrorists killed Americans on 9/11, they're fighting us in Iraq and across the world, and they're plotting to kill Americans here at home again." [CNN,7/24/07 ]

This quote, as you can see, is taken from CNN. It was written six years after the attack and five years after the declaration of war between America and Iraq. Well supposedly are helping Iraq. Who has the right to be mad?

New thing on guam!!

In south pacific seas, in between California and the northern part of indonesia. The coordinates are 13 28 North and 144 47 East. This is my home and. An extremely beautiful country. What makes this island so magnificent is the untouched forrest that have markings all around the paths dating back thousands of years ago. It has many different climates in different areas. It many has this fantastic warm climate, pretty much a tropical climate. Its climate is a very comfortable humid almost all year around. Even when it rains the sun still shines through the thin clouds giving the some of the greatest displays of nature known to man. Many colorful rainbows to appear and in our culture a rainbow is like a loved one that has lost there life is dropping down to say hello.

The island people are friendly and giving so this makes a very loving atmosphere. The U.S. calls my island Guam because they could not pronounce the correct name that is actually Gua han. Which means “We Have so we give ”. Our people are a very giving people and always willing to share with eachother.

The island of Guam is full of beautiful lush green jungles filled with many different trees that bear fruit, such as mango, papaya and coconut. There are also many plants that are not in other places that are in fact edible. The food there is plentifull and extremely delicious. It is a combination of influences by oriental food and Spanish food because when the Japanese and Spanish came to TRY and conquer us they left some food dishes. The island is surrounded with crystal clear ocean waters, which are no doubt inviting to anyone who flies over. It is protected by the surrounding coral reef (similar to Hawaii’s) that are just as colorful as the forests of the island.

The United States Military base is one of the biggest industries of Guam. Touring is also a very important industry. The military base takes up one third of the island, which has many sacred ancient burial grounds, and fishing and hunting areas has been restricted for many decades. This is very sad for the native people not to be able to walk in the steps of their beloved ancestors. The jungle and beaches of this one third is no longer needed for jungle warfare training, yet the government will not give it back to the people or allow them onto the sacred and ancient area. Hopefully the people will succeed in at the very least, to be allowed to fish and hunt again in this area.

There are many tourist who come from all around the world. It is like a little Hawaii. There are very lucrative industries in Guam, such as… construction, transshipment services, concrete products, printing and publishing, food processing, and textiles, imports and exports. Some of these industries are multimillion industries.

Guam is a very beautiful tropical paradise This county has the map reference that is Oceania. The land boundaries are 0 km. Since this country is an island in the Pacific Ocean. It has a whole bunch of coastlines on all sides of it. Now to Guam’s demographics.

There are mostly Men in Guam right now. At the age of 0-14 there are 25,686 males, and 23,938 in Guam as of the year 2007. These age groups are 28.6% of Guam’s population. There are 111,895 people in Guam that are between the ages of 15-64 years of age. There are 57,023 that are male and 54,872 women in Guam right now. This age group holds the most amount of people. At the age of 60 and over, you in a group of people that holds 6.9% of the people in Guam. 5,592 of these people are men and 6,345 of them are females.

....

After being crushed my the volleyball boy, she stammered off with her ruined shirt while he gazed at her until she disappeared into the sunset ....

I feel this quote has major significants because it is foreshadowing on what is coming up later in the book. it is foreshadowing that this guy, the volleyball guy, is going to come back into the story in a really big way. ive heard a little about this book and movie so i kind of know what to expect. i have like put two and two together and i think that ronnie and this "popular, vollyball player" will fall in love. I can not wait.

Ronnie is the main character in this book has to go to her fathers house for the whole summer. even though she has not interacted with her father in three years she is dreading it. when she was thirteen when her father left them and has been devastated ever since. Ronnie and her mother are not that close either so she has had really hard times with her parents. Her mother lives in new york but her father lives in South Carolina. this is a recipe for problems.

On the whole ride from new york to south carolina, ronnie was either yelling at her mother, yelling at her brother, or yelling to her mother and/ or brother about her father. and even when her and her family got to there destination, stuff did not really get better. Her brother and her father are really close but she is not bonding with her father. she feels that her father has pushed her too hard when he was around and in her life. he pushed her in her piano practice and studies. she would spend hours and hours sitting with him going over and over and over her lyrics and "chords". he forced her into doing a really spectacular event where she performed a sonnet. she actually really enjoyed it but that was one of the last times she saw him. it gives her bad memories...

The Iraq War, also known as the Occup...

The Iraq War, also known as the Occupation of Iraq, The Second Gulf War Operation Iraqi Freedom, or Operation New Dawn is an ongoing Military campaignwhich began on March 20, 2003, with the invasions of iraq and The military led by troops from the United states and the United Kingdon.

Prior to the war, the governments of the United States and the United Kingdom claimed that Iraq's alleged possession of (WMD) posed a threat to their security and that of their coalition/regional allies. In 2002, the United States Army passed Resolution which called for Iraq to completely cooperate with UN weapon inspectors to verify that Iraq was not in possession of WMD and cruise missiles. The United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC) found no evidence of WMD, but could not verify the accuracy of Iraq's weapon declarations. Lead weapons inspector Hans Blix advised the UN Security Council that while Iraq was cooperating in terms of access, Iraq's declarations with regards to WMD still could not be verified.

After investigation following the invasion, the U.S.-led Iraq Survey Group concluded that Iraq had ended its nuclear, chemical, and biological programs in 1991 and had no active programs at the time of the invasion, but that they intended to resume production if the Iraq sanctions were lifted. Although some degraded remnants of misplaced or abandoned chemical weapons from before 1991 were found, they were not the weapons which had been the main argument to justify the invasion. Some US officials also accused Iraqi President Saddam Hussein of harboring and supporting al-Qaeda, but no evidence of a meaningful connection was ever found. Other proclaimed reasonsfor the invasion Palestinian suicide bombers, Iraqi government human rights abuses, and an effort to spread democracy to the country. Included Iraq's financial support for the families of.

The invasion of Iraq led to an occupation and the eventual capture of President Hussein, who was later tried in an Iraqi court of law and executed Iraqi government. Violence against coalition forces and among various sectarian groups soon led to the Iraqi insurgency, strife between many Sunni and Shia Iraqi groups, and the emergence of a new faction of Al-Qaeda in Iraq. October 2006, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Iraqi government estimated that more than 365,000 Iraqis had been displaced since the 2006 bombing of the al-Askari Mosque, bringing the total number of Iraqi refugees to more than 1.6 million. By 2008, the UNHCR raised the estimate of refugees to a total of about 4.7 million (~16% of the population). The number of refugees estimated abroad was 2 million (a number close to CIA projections) and the number of internally displaced people was 2.7 million. In 2007, Iraq's anti-corruption board reported that 35% of Iraqi children, or about five million children, were orphans. The Red Cross stated in March 2008 that Iraq's humanitarian situation remained among the most critical in the world, with millions of Iraqis forced to rely on insufficient and poor-quality water sources. by the new

In June 2008, U.S. Department of Defense officials claimed security and economic indicators began to show signs of improvement in what they hailed as significant and fragile gains. Iraq was fifth on the 2008 Failed States Index, and sixth on the 2009 list. As public opinion favoring troop withdrawals increased and as Iraqi forces began to take responsibility for security, member nations of the Coalition withdrew their forces. In late 2008, the U.S. and Iraqi governments approved a Status of Forces Agreement effective through January 1, 2012. The Iraqi Parliament also ratified a Strategic Framework Agreement with the U.S., aimed at ensuring cooperation in constitutional rights, threat deterrence, education, energy development, and other areas.

In late February 2009, new U.S. President Barack Obama announced an 18-month withdrawal window for combat forces, with approximately 50,000 troops remaining in the country "to advise and train Iraqi security forces and to provide intelligence and surveillance". General Ray Odierno, the top U.S. military commander in Iraq, said he believes all U.S. troops will be out of the country by the end of 2011, while UK forces ended combat operations on April 30, 2009. Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has said he supports the accelerated pullout of US forces. On February 17, 2010 Secretary Of Defense Robert Gates announced that as of September 1, 2010 the name "Operation Iraqi Freedom" would be replaced by "Operation New Dawn".

"The Hot Zone" by Richard Preston wa...

"The Hot Zone" by Richard  Preston was truely a fantastic book. It really have to got be one of my favorite books. It pulls you in so very perciseley and arranges your nerves to the point where you will do what ever he wants. This combined with his cunning and well thought out plot is a deadly threat. After ever chapter of this book he leaves you with goose bumps and cringed skin from his word choice and graphic details. The way he discribed what all the (mentioned) virus' did to it's victim was honestly and truly sapurb. Good choice Andre and Ryry!

In this blog, i did what Mr. sutherland  told us to do by putting in links for the readers to do some additional research if they are interested.

The Hot Zone opens with a vivid telling of Charles Monet's infection and how it eats away at his body. From the hideous condition of Charles Monet, with blood dripping from every orifice and the images of thick black liquid staining the walls of a hospital, the reader is disgusted, and yet appalled by the effects of the exotic virus. Charles Monet had apparently received the virus in the Kitum Cave, nestled in the African Mount Elgon. Perhaps the biosphere does not 'like' the idea of five billion humans. Preston believes that the horrible viruses are the earth's way of punishing the human race for taking over and for preventing their future expanse. The earth's immune system, so to speak, has recognized the presence of the human species and is starting to kick in. The earth is attempting to rid itself of an infection by the human parasite. The tone of the book becomes much more matter-of-fact, and much drier. For the most part The Hot Zone is a very interesting book. The organization could have been better. The last chapter of the book was also out of place. The rain forest has its own defenses. Or it could also be said that the extreme amplification of the human race, which has occurred only in the past hundred years or so, has suddenly produced a very large quantity of meat, which is sitting everywhere in the biosphere and may not be able to defend itself against a life form that might want to consume it.

The Ebola Sudan is more that twice as lethal as Marburg, its case-fatality rate being 50 percent. However, this terrifying story is the complete truth, an exhibition of nature's parasites, or predators, in its purest form. It is an undeniable tale of pure horror. Finally, was a test for Ebola Zaire, from the bloodstream of the deceased Nurse Mayinga. With the various twists and turns, Preston transforms the usual work of nonfiction into an unmistakable work of art. He had performed tests using the blood serum from three human victims.

Mr. Preston states in the first chapter page three, that has always had an interest in these diseases but never actually had first hand experience with touching them. I know it sounds lame but he is a writer. Can't be good at everything. (Laughing out loud). This guy really is the man though. If I could, I would meet this mr richard preston. He is a cool guy though. Believe me person who is reading this He's just a normal guy but as really seen some shit in his days.  Mister Richard Preston was born August fifth, 1954 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. To the young parents. Mister and miss' Preston. For the majority of his life he lived in the small little town in Nebraska.  He was about a mere young fifty when he wrote this book. Richard Preston graduated Wellesley High school in Massachusetts in 1972, He attended Pomona Colege, in Claremont, California, and received his Ph.D. in English from Princeton University. His 1992 New Yorker article "Crisis in the Hot Zone" was expanded into his best known book, The Hot Zone in ninteen ninety four. here is a link to the wikipedia site if you would like to look further into it. credited to allen lane and judith miller. So his original copy of this story was called some thing different and was latter developted in to his best selller. I can understand why it was a best seller. Preston's personal hobby of recreational big tree climbing is introduced in his book (2007) The Wild Trees.[1]. This climbing experience helped him write about the largest known redwoods like Lost Monarch, or Iluvatar, described in that book along with delicate forest canopy ecosystems.Even though that is a very long time ago, readers in america and in different countrys different countries. He came to know the virus through such contacts as U.S. Army researchers Drs. C.J. Petters and Nancy Jaax His fascination began during a visit to Africa where he was an eye witness to epidemics. Another book about viruses that he wrote was the novel The Cobra Event (1998), about the terroristic release of a fictional virus combining various qualities of different diseases upon New York City, alarmed even then-President Bill Clinton who, shortly after reading it, instigated a review of bio-terror threats to the U.S. The book strove to tell a fast-paced thriller narrative within the bounds of well-researched bio-terroristic possibility, and was reportedly pressed upon Clinton by a molecular biologist when he was attending a Renaissance Weekend event.[2] the other one that Mr. Preston wrote was The Demon Freezer(2002) covers the story of the eradication of Smallpox, perhaps the most destructive virus to have plagued mankind. It details the survival of the virus in research labs and bio-weapon programs of Russia and other nations, despite its eradication in the human population. The narrative continues with Anthrax, a bacterial disease of cattle and humans, used in a failed attack against former Senator Tom Daschle of South Dakota.

All in all this book was pretty damn epic. andre and ryan, i give some big ass props for picking this book. good shit brothas. How did you guys like it anyways. we havent discussed how we were feeling about the book in a whole, since we finished.

hey young bloods,I love this book you guys! it is so legit. page by page richard preston has my skin cringing. i am amazed by these viruses, too. im am actually thinking about going into this feild of work similar to nancy jaax. this stuff is beautiful. you guys, this book just kept on gettong better. all the way to the end. i feel enlighted about the possible diseases and how they can easily get into our country and just as easily spread like no other ther thing in the world. it is amazing.
i am really happy that we chose this book. i am not really sure that you guys feel entirely the same way as i do, refering to your recent literary circle letter, but when i think back on our discussions that we have had, i can recall that you guys felt the same way. i feel this way because i am more sanitary. i know, or a least believe that a disease will be noticed like pretty soon after it gets here. not like in the book where it seriously took way too long till it's initial arrival in the states. that was just rediculous, huh guys?
how do you guys feel about that whole.... section about its attempt for spreading. that was honestly SO well written that i was feeling some what scared!! like almost nervous for my own well being. did you guys feel the same way? like Preston pulled you into the book or something similar to that? i was blown away by this guy.
hey richard preston (by the way, i memorized his name, laughing out loud), good shat on this book that you have written. i am stunned.
on the upcoming ones, could you guys be more straight foward? thanks partners!

The Holocaust was the mass murder of ...

The Holocaust was the mass murder of European Jews by the nazis during the second world war. It took place from the 30th of January 1933 to the end of the war in Europe on May 8th 1945. The nazi dictator Adolph Hitler planned to wipe out the entire Jewish population as a part of his plan to conquer the world. Holocaust refers to any widespread human disaster but it's special meaning is the annihilations of six million Jewish men, women and children by the nazi regime. The Jews were singled out for extermination because the nazis had a hatred for them as they considered jews as a race whose goal was world domination and was an obstruction to the Aryan dominance. So the nazis thought it was their duty to eliminate the Jews as they were a threat. Every Jewish community occupying Europe suffered losses during the holocaust. Jews in north Africa were persecuted but did not suffer the same mass murders as in Europe.

The world that people lived in during the Holocaust is described by the personal experiences of the oppressed throughout the the many heart-wrenching and terrifying novels that have been published throught the time of the end of the holocaust till now. and i imagine that there are more to come. The vicious and relentless emotional, physical, and psychological abuse the Nazi`s targeted at their victims is depicted in detail. The unspeakable cruelty received by the Jews dramatically altered their state of mind and how they lived their lives. The emotions of despair, distress, depression, hopelessness, helplessness felt by the Jews eventually turn to hate, anger, hopefulness, faith, and ultimately revenge against all oppressors. The Holocaust was a traumatic and tragic time in history to say the least. Those who were victims of the mistreatment were forced to respond.

Propaganda played a huge role and affected many people’s thinking during this time period. The propaganda was designed to influence the targeted people’s opinions, beliefs, and emotions. Joseph Paul Goebbel’s was the German national socialist propagandist. He had complete control over radio, press, cinema, and theater. What the propagandist preached may have been either true or false. They did whatever it took to sway the people to believe their ideas. They wanted people to think that their way was right.

The Nazi’s were known for using terms that had literal and actual meaning in their propagandized language. Their thoughts were hammered into people’s brains so they soon became unconsciously thinking the way the Nazi’s did. The propagandist had rules like our 10 Commandments. The first three were to divide and conquer, tell the people what they want, and the bigger the lie, the more people will believe it. this honest to god hurts my soul.

After doing this cultural week. my eyes were opened. i am amazed at the troubles and hardships and just pure brutality... i feel all there pain just in my heart right now. their stories, weigh on my heart. i love them as i would family. after the speech and story telling by Hellen, i went up there and shook her hand. btw, thank you Hellen..

Richard Preston’s The Hot Zone is an ...

I love this book you guys! it is so legit. page by page richard preston has my skin cringing. i am amazed by these viruses, too. im am actually thinking about going into this feild of work similar to nancy jaax. this stuff is beautiful.

Richard Preston’s The Hot Zone is an excellent nonfiction account of a deadly virus from the central rain forests of Africa that suddenly appears in the suburbs of Washington DC. The Virus is highly contagious and has no cure. This book describes many frightening encounters with this virus and the effects it has on the human body, getting more and more graphic as the book continues. It also attempts to explain where and why the viruses originated. From reading The Hot Zone one can interpret two main themes, the first of which involves the idea that the Ebola virus could spread very rapidly if airborne. In today’s society, with the worldwide use of airplanes, an airborne virus could travel from country to another in a matter of hours. Many of the outbreaks occurred as a result of infected people traveling to other areas and infecting people there. With the use of airplanes a virus such as an airborne strand of Ebola could destroy the world. Another major theme in this book is Preston’s idea that disease is nature’s defense.

The Ebola Sudan is more that twice as lethal as Marburg, its case-fatality rate being 50 percent. However, this terrifying story is the complete truth, an exhibition of nature's parasites, or predators, in its purest form. It is an undeniable tale of pure horror. Finally, was a test for Ebola Zaire, from the bloodstream of the deceased Nurse Mayinga. com/interviews/980924/biography/html. With the various twists and turns, Preston transforms the usual work of nonfiction into an unmistakable work of art. He had performed tests using the blood serum from three human victims.

I really like this idea of blogging b...

I really like this idea of blogging. At first i thought that it wouldn't be fun and that it would be an inconvenience but if you do it for the right reasons it could actually be really awesome.

For me, this is going to work in my liking because i can blog and keep a "log' of how my football games go and my stats and opinions about it the way it went. this blog could be a really cool way to inform my sister about each one of my games and what i was able to accomplish week by week. i actually have not seen her for close to a year because she is in the air force living in Portugal. she has her own family all the way in Portugal so she cant come home and see us. i know she is doing it for our country, but it is hard to go through high school because she has always been there for me and has always been a big supporter in my sports. this blog is almost entirely for football on Friday nights under the lights. When I'm an adult, i want to be able to go back and look at all these documents and reminisce about the early years of my life. i can also show these to my kids if they do not believe me when i tell them that i was a pretty good athlete. my dad showed me his old pictures and writings that were about his life when i brought this assignment to his attention. i never believed that my dad was not just an athlete but that he was really good at what he did. i am very supprised that he was really good at baseball. he was a monster!

i have not followed my goals. i do not think i really want to either. my goals were to write about football and keep my stats so i can go back and reminisce. i like this idea but this is really way to hard because the blog is do fridays and my games are on fridays. this caused a huge problem because i would come home extremely exausted and not be able to build up enough energy to stay awake while i type the blog

i ended up just writing to get by. like i have started to just ramble about stuff i dont like just to get the credit. most of the time i would do what you told us not to, by repeating myself. so my work would come out no where close to my best works.

my new goals. i feel that i should change my goals because, like i said i have not been able to follow through with my old plans. after two days of planning on what they should be, i did not come up with much. the first thing i thought was to write about weight lifting but i do not really feel that that would be using this blog for something usefull. because it would be very repetative.

Pick a character that interested you ...

Monthly book review!!! yay..

The book that i am reading is a walk to remember. even though the book i had to read for lit circle group was "Nickled and Dimed", i read a walk you remember and i loved it with all my heart! it is my favorite book ever now. i highly recomend the book. not the movie. the movie just ruins this book. and if you have seen the movie or if you have read the book. just clear your mind of all the information of this story that you hold prior to this review. and just imagine all i say. this is the best way to read a review.

8. Pick a character that interested you and write about them in depth.

i picked the character named Landon, Landon Carter. A nice guy from North Carolina that has some good, and some bad moments. He could possibly be one of the most changed characters that i have read about in any book in man kind. (bold statement!)

In the beginning of the book Landon was, how you say, insecure. he was not really popular and the only popularity that he had was obtained by hanging out with John. john, who was the star quarter back, was a very big influence on Landon. even though at most times it was a bad influence Landon could help but be his best friend. the bad influence directly caused Landon to be the way he was. no other person except maybe his father, caused him to be the way he was. the other person that could have efected him in the way he was was possibly his dad. but the difference between John's influence and his father's influence was that Landon did not, under no circumstances, wanted to be like his dad. its sad but he has pretty good reason. it because his dad has really never accepted him or the things that he wanted him to be. it is basically because his dad planned out his life before Landon was even alive. this caused many problems in Landon's life because he never really knew what to do once his dad
"set him free". then he started to mess up...

in the begining of the book he was kind of lost. he was looking for his spot in his school/ world. but of course, this was before he knew jaime. he was also kind of mean and stuck up before he incountered her. but she changed that. Imensely! but that is a different story. ill touch on it in a little. Landon never really fit in  but had a cool ass freind and he knew this. this bothered him because it made him feel that he was not really his ownn person or never really earned the respect that he had from his peers. he also did not feel that his life was earned in any other way. even including the money that his grand father obtained. he felt this in his heart because his grand dad did not ever work for his "earnings" really. all he did to get his money was lend money to the workers and the land owners that needed money to keep there work going during the great depression. and he would charge out ragoious interest charges so that they would end up going broke and owe him a lot of money on top of the money that they paid him in intrest. he was just a straight up snake and Landon knew it. he hated this. Landon honestly did not one time work to get anything by himself. this bothered him. this kind of made him a jerk because he was so mad about not having a place in his own life.

Then he met Jaime. Jaime was not really that much of a " cool" or "popular" girl in any way. She was not anything special so to speak but she would end up being special. Landon did not even feel that she was pretty or special or even cool in a some what kind of way. Jaime and Landon went to school together for so many years, twelve long years to be exact. he actually even did not even like her. to be blunt. lol. but he had enough common sense and respect top be nice to her though. he had a soft spot for her because it was so many years that she was kind of like a certain type of family. except distant and very annoying to him! some branch of family, right? but this year would definately change it.

Jaime was such a wonderful person that some people even hated her for it because watching her around people mad you feel like a bad person because she was just so wonderfully nice. it was amazing to think that but i guess that it is plausable. ridiculous idea but it truly did happen. it makes me feel really, really bad. She was the pastor/ reverands daughter and was the perfect little teenager. basically no flaws. crazy right? Landon on the other hand, you basically know. he was opposite. well to say it as nice as possible. but saying the opposite of Jaime really could not be nice. it cant even mean anything nice. well referring to anything nice. who would expect what was going to come next. i am not going to ruin the book and tell you how he changes, or how he and Jaime end. Just read.

it is a cliche ass love story. good sweet and pretty girl, falls for the "bad boy". but it is not that. in short terms, this book will just play every heart in and make it just fall for this cute couple. i loved this book. and i honest to god, with all my heart and soul, do not watch the movie. READ the book. arguably the best read in the world and possibly one of Nicholas Sparks' best book. It is just amazing!!!

With education, you can make your lif...

With education, you can make your life much easier and it won't be a pain to get a good paying job when you get out of school into the real world. The people that she works with in the book are the example of people that did not think of the future leading them into not applying themselves to there school. I am sure they would love to go back in time and does their homework, get good grades, and then go to college and not have dropped out of high school.

What is your guy’s favorite part of the book so far? i am not really feeling this book even though it is an easy reader. like the topics are understandable but not interesting. that type of easy reader. I really like how she explains how the people she works with have a bunch of other jobs other then the one they are at with her. meaning that they are not even getting paid enough with just one minimum wage job, so they need another. this gives me an example of how not to do things in my life. i really do feel bad for these people but at the same time i am putting all my will power into not leading type of life. this is still going on around the country and even more so around the world. This really just brings out her point about the minimum wage not being enough to earn a living. her point should really help us as young adults to strive for better things so we do not end up like them. i feel bad for saying it even though it is not mean. i am not trying to knock these people's life style. i just dont want it. you guys get what i am saying. lets discuss this further in class like we did last time. LOVE TONE!!

Can you believe that her fellow emplo...

The fact that these people have the hardest jobs, and get payed the least really surprises me. People who do such hard work and work for such little pay and live in these conditions should be considered heroes.they are really the unsung heros of our world. they should actually get noticed and appraised for their diligence. its sad that they are even disrespected in some cases.

Can you believe that her fellow employees are living in such awful places? I remember that one woman she met was actually living in her car, and showering at another employee's motel room. I have just never realized what people living off of minimum wage are going through, and how hard their lives are. One company she interviewed for offered only two hundred dollars a week, and makes all employees work at least forty hours per week. That is less that one thousand dollars a month (eight hundred dollars a month). The rent alone at little run down places that she finds are a couple hundred bucks a month, and she also has to buy food and pay for gas. Speaking of gas, she was paying a fortune on it when she was working at her first restaurant, because she had to make a forty minute commute everyday. its almost worst than the situation for the other people in Florida.

She is wasting an entire year on this book but at the same time she isn't wasting her time, she is experimenting with it and seeing all of the outcomes of her decisions. Some people have an entirely different aspect of this book then me but maybe you guys know what I am talking about.

near the end of this section started to get better for her, but not by all that much. i am hell of happy for her success in finding jobs and keeping them for a substantial amount of time.

My grandma is about 63 years old. So ...

My grandma is about 63 years old. So that is approximately thirty years of technological advancements and price changes that now separates my grandmother’s childhood, from mine.

Question #1: How have the prices for the buses that ride through alameda changed in these many years?

Her: Prices for buses have changed by through out my life by such a great deal… I remember that a few friends and I would get fifteen cents a day from our moms. We were able to choose from two different things that we could do with that money. We could either take the bus to Park Street and hang out and have no money to spend while we were there, or we could walk from over by Washington Park all the way to Park Street to go swimming. So we would walk the distance and spend ten cents getting into the alameda high community pool. We stayed there all through out the day and on our way back we would get a chicken noodle soup from the dispenser and share it on the way home.

Me: Wait what do you mean by the dispenser?

Her: You know those hot coffee dispensers? It’s like that but hot chicken noodle soup in a cup. They don’t have them anymore because they found out they weren’t good for you.

Question #2: What was on T.V. when you were younger? And was the sitcoms, shows, and what not, the same?

Her: Hahaha. Aw, man. I used to watch the Brady Bunch everyday after school. They were actually only on from three to five and ten another network would take over. That was the worst time of the day for us and the little kids because the Brady Bunch was so popular. I liked Greg. And your Auntie Carol thought she was Jan and was in love with Peter.

Me: Whom did dad like? Lol.

Her: Your dad was in deep love with Marsha.

Me: What about for cartoons though, mom?

Her: Cartoons were only on Saturday mornings. Oh and the T.V. would turn off at midnight and then the American Anthem.

Me: Oh my god! Haha. That would suck

Question #3: What did you do for fun? I mean like from day to day.

Her: I liked to play baseball all the time! Like the neighborhood kids and I would go on these adventures and play all kinds a sports. I even used to play with your dad.

Me: You doing adventures and sports? What do you mean? And when the hell would you hang out with dad lol?

Her: Yeah adventures! Ya know? Like find something cool in the sand.

Me: Oh!! Haha that’s what mean. That sounds pretty fun. But yeah, you hung out with dad?

Her: Yeah! Not much but a few times here and there. Like we were friends but not really close yet.

Question #4: What about fashion back then?!

Me: What did you guys where in those days lol.

HerUmm. It was mainly bell-bottoms and halter-tops and daisy dukes and platform shoes.

Me: Hahaha. Wait not dad!!

Her: Haha. Him too! He used to look hella good. In those jeans and platforms with slicked back hair.

Me: Eww mom stop. That’s such a bad image! Lmao.

her: He was one foxy man. Haha. Alright, alright ill stop. But yeah it was very peace, lovey, and tripy. Nothing like your teen style today.

Dear Andre,

Dear Andre and also Ryan,

how do you like this book. i honestly do not like it at all. lol. the book is basicly straight repetition after repetition. to be blunt, i feel that she has a secret "system"/ agenda that she does through out the entire beginning of the book. first, she blabs on and on about her stupid problem with her job(s). either that she is too tired, does not have enough money, or wants to quite. biut honesly, i dont even know why she contemplaits quieting because that will put he even more further in her money accumulation for the month or how ever long she would not have a job. Dumb, huh, Andre? and on top of all of this she does not even have to be doing this to her self. remember how she had like a six figure job but put it off for a while to try out this experiment that she decided to do because of who knows why. YEAH i know. freaking weird as hell, huh dude. do not you think so, Andre?! what a bout you Ryan? do you like it?

Six figure job. her decision honestly makes not one little ity bity peice of sense to me. not one bit. like the idea of seeing how other people in different social classes have to do to get by in this world is pretty interesting, but this book so far seems to be written very unwell. i think that the potential of the rating of his book is very high. but after reading the back cover of the book the book my expectations were really really high. now i kind of wish that i did not read it because i really feel that this book is not good.

Bobert

There once was a food particle, that’s name was Bobby. He and his fellow amino acids formed a protein called cheese. This cheese added with the other ingredients, make the Italy’s infamous pizza. Bobby didn’t know much about the digestive system before today but he sure will soon.

It was the big day for bobby and the cheese, it was the day they were going to be assembled into a pizza and enjoyed by the customer. Him and all the amino acids were so juiced but little did they know they were soon to embark on an incredible journey through the human body.

“ ORDER NUMBER 78! 78 COME GET YOUR ORDER,” said the man behind the counter. An alone man came and picked it up,” Saying thank you,” while on the way back to his table. The man was ready to chow-down so he swooped up the piece that Bobby accommoded, and inhaled it like it was nothing. Bobby was astonished and horrified because now he was in the man’s dungeon. This was like no other place Bobby has been before. It was moist, humid, smelly, warm and there were massive white “things” that moved up and down. But weirdest of ALL, there was a very powerful slithering snack thing that was at the abyss of the dungeon. Within seconds of observing all these mysterious features Bobby found himself being squeezed by what he thought was an enormous snake because of the constricting walls that forced him into a giant pool of stinging fluids.

Bobby was even more scared now because the acids were doing something really weird! They were being squirted out little spouts on the roof of the stomach to straighten the protein monomers into long strings so the can be more maneuverable through the small intestines. Bobby had no idea what was happening and then all of a sudden a gapping hole opened up in the wall out the stomach and all that was in the stomach was emptied out into a long thin tube. Bobby wasn’t really that scared cause he wasn’t closhchiphobic. In this place there were spouts like in the stomach but these juices started to cut him up into smaller pieces called amino acids. We need the proteins to be broken into acids in order for Bobby and his friends to be absorbed.

Bobby thought he was tripping of the juices from the walls because he was really astonished at the fact that he was being absorbed by the walls. From the walls Bobby was swept away by raging blood in the artery running by the small intestines. Bobby thought this was awesome! Soon he came to somewhat of an intersection. He was really bumbed out cause because he had to turn into smaller looking blood vessels called capillaries. Once he came turned he knew he would regret this immensely for the fact that it haunted him. What Bobby saw was enzymes attracting to amino acid molecules, sucked them in and spit them out as a fused together, protein polymer. Almost instantaneously a cell would pick it up, fold, and absorb it! At this point of the story Bobby really wasn’t trusting his eyes because he’s never seen these term of events happen before. Before Bobby could think if what he was seeing was actually happening, he was slurped by an enzyme and never heard of again.

“The Caged Bird” by Maya Angelou tell...

“The Caged Bird” by Maya Angelou tells of many different stages of a very unfortunate little bird’s life. The free bird flies downstream and attempts to wet his wings in the sun’s rays; the angry cage bird is unable to move; the caged bird sings of the unknown; the bird is caged and sings about freedom. Looking from a certain perspective, the bird has passed through a few depressing stages of his life.

The words caged and freedom play very important roles in this poem. The word caged, “The caged bird sings with a fear full trill” (ll.7), means that the bird is captured and cannot escape, giving a negative connotation of some sort. On the other hand, “The free bird thinks of knew breezes” (ll.11) alludes to happiness and joy. This forces one to be perplexed so the reader would have to stall and sort of question where the story stands. Ms. Angelou did an admirable job with this section of the poem. These two words cause the overall poem to open up and develop into the nation renowned poem that it has become.

The confusion that these two words, caged and free, cause really causes the poem to develop the way it did. In a way they brought the poem to its popularity. Even some college courses require the analysis of this poem that indirectly leads to there future graduation. And for us to be given this poem is amazing because really the only change is the way you can interpret the poem and where these words bring you. All because the concept and theme it is possibility to be open.

Is the poem connected with slavery and escaping out of captivity? For instance: “The angry bird is caged and unable to move,” (sequence of events) connecting to slavery when the slaves were chained up which causes them to be extremely upset about their confinement; “The caged bird sings about unknown things,” (sequence of events) meaning the freedom land, for it has merely no idea about what freedom is like or how to obtain it. This is almost exactly what the slaves desired because they weren’t absolutely clear about freedom but they would give anything for it. They both also couldn’t see the land the land that they held most dearly in their hopes and dreams.

“The bird thinks of another breeze, and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees.” (ll.12).  Sighing is an action sometimes associated with depression or frustration. Many people have quoted a philosopher that has said that, “We area direct product of our existing environment,” for better or for worse. The trees are symbols for sad (frustrated) or depressed people that he is passing by in his flight searching for a better place beyond the distant hills.

Moving upward in social standing requires being free and being able to over come social separation. Also, “The free bird… waiting… he names the sky his own.” The bird is free but yet it still attempts to claim one more thing, the sky. In earlier history the sky has been referred to as holy or divine meaning that it is nearly out of reach. The only thing left that it can hope for now because it’s free is civil right

Dreams. (basically planning my life)

Dreams. (basically planning my life) When i think about my future i look way in to it. What i find my self thinking about, well kind of wanting, is not stuff i would typically expect from a person. like when i imagine my future, its not much. all i want to have when i grow up is some sort of family. and the rest comes in the picture almost as "extremities". also, i am going to be living in a beautiful forestry/rural place. something like near a small town. i do not want to have a life entirely based on stuff i have, rather than stuff i do.

I think i feel this way because as i have been growing up, Family meant nearly everything. the need for family figures in my life when i am an adult can be contributed to my grandparents. they are the producers of one hundred family members. i let a lone have over one hundred family members in the city of Alameda so like everywhere i go there is a cousin or and aunt. sometimes even some nephews or nieces. I LOVE it. i cant even imagine going a day without seeing some kind of family member.

i want. i do not want a typical life. like most people would make comment and or even say it is less than an "average". like something simple. when i grow up i am going to be healthy, have a good job, vacation often (but it wont be vacationing), and enjoy everything/everyone in my life. even the simple things. i like the simple things... there are actually the greatest part of life. to be healthy i am going to eat healthy and work out almost everyday. to have good job i am going to need to going to have to go to a nice college, prob through football. :( i do not really want to but i am probably going to have to do college through football. and since i want to live in northern California near the sierra mountains, Guam, or basically any beautiful spot in the world. nothing plain. since ill be living in a vacation place it technically wont be vacationing. and for the simple things, everything beautiful.

None of this even possible without god. God is the center of everything. everything we know. everything we will know. weird right? at first, when i just started thinking on my own and being more responsible (such as making decisions or planning for my future), basically getting  freedom over my own life, i did not believe that any of this was true. this amazed my parents because they both were very firm believers and played an extremely active role in our church community. i think all of my "doubts" about religion came as i started having legit science classes.

Science classes started getting more serious and more in depth as i got older and older. i first actually noticed this in the eight grade when they started to teach us about all that evolution shit. i actually had a teacher that had the tenacity to look me in the eye and tell me that "god is not real. its just that a women stuck to her lie very well." we all know where he is going! but anyways, this was the first time in my life that someone has told me god was a lie. I was honestly pissed. i was like HOW RUDE! this mad me think, a lot. i ended up questioning the whole religion and basis of Christianity.

I later did research on things that have disproved Christianity or stuff that just argued it. on top of further depth in evolution and better standing off it i found some legit ass arguments convincing me otherwise. this wasn't the nail in the coffin of my faith in god. something else later to come did me off. one of the most disappointments in my life brought me down.

Auntie Carmen. She was my aunt that died in my eighth grade year. i felt that if someone can just die without any remorse there could not be anybody responsible. just like that, family, gone. this was absolutely devastating to everyone in our family. how could anyone do that to a family. couldn't be real.

i went for about a year thinking this. not until maybe early sophomore summer. right now i honestly cant remember why i have started believing in god but i really do believe in him. even though the events that have turned me away, my crisis is over and my belief is stronger than ever

everything. everything we know. everything we will know. weird right?
at first, when i just started thinking on my own and being more
responsible (such as making desicions or planning for my future),
basically getting  freedom over my own life, i did not believe that any
of this was true. this amazed my parents because they both were very
firm believers and played an extremely active role in our church
comuntity. i think all of my "doubts" about religion came as i started
having legit science classes.

Science classes started getting
more serious and more in depth as i got older and older. i first
actualy noticed this in the eight grade when they sarted to teach us
about all that evoulution shit. i actually had a teacher that had the
tenacity to look me in the eye and tell me that "god is not real. its
just that a women stuck to her lie vey well." Haha. we all know where
he is going! but anyways, this was the first time in my life that
someone has told me god was a lie. I was honestly pissed. i was like
HOW RUDE! this mad me think, a lot. i ended up questioning the whole
religion and basis of christianity.

I later did researchon
things that have disproved christianity or stuff that just argued it.
on top of further depth in evolution and better standing off it i found
some legit ass arguements convincing me otherwise. this wasnt the nail
in the coffin of my faith in god. something else later to come did me
off. one of the most dissapointments in my life brought me down.

Auntie
Carmen. She was my aunt that died in my eighth grade year. i felt that
if someone can just die without any remorse there could not be anybody
responsable. just like that, family, gone. this was absolutely
devistating to everyone in our family. how could anyone do that to a
family. couldnt be real.

Charles Louis de Secondat was born in...

Charles Louis de Secondat was born in Bordeaux, France, in 1689 to a wealthy family. Despite his family's wealth, de Decondat was placed in the care of a poor family during his childhood. He later went to college and studied science and history, eventually becoming a lawyer in the local government. De Secondat's father died in 1713 and he was placed under the care of his uncle, Baron de Montesquieu. The Baron died in 1716 and left de Secondat his fortune, his office as president of the Bordeaux Parliament, and his title of Baron de Montesquieu. Later he was a member of the Bordeaux and French Academies of Science and studied the laws and customs and governments of the countries of Europe. He gained fame in 1721 with his Persian Letters, which criticized the lifestyle and liberties of the wealthy French as well as the church. However, Montesquieu's book On the Spirit of Laws, published in 1748, was his most famous work. It outlined his ideas on how government would best work.

Montesquieu believed that all things were made up of rules or laws that never changed. He set out to study these laws scientifically with the hope that knowledge of the laws of government would reduce the problems of society and improve human life. According to Montesquieu, there were three types of government: a monarchy (ruled by a king or queen), a republic (ruled by an elected leader), and a despotism (ruled by a dictator). Montesquieu believed that a government that was elected by the people was the best form of government. He did, however, believe that the success of a democracy - a government in which the people have the power - depended upon maintaining the right balance of power. Montesquieu argued that the best government would be one in which power was balanced among three groups of officials.

Dreams.

Dreams. (basically planning my life)

When i think about my future i look way in to it.

BTW: I love you and miss you tiki!!

!st semester final

This is my second period English final. The topic was to
pick and choose three of these ten different question that were
supplied to us. I was listening to Mr. Sutherland about his feelings on
which questions would be the best for us to choose in order to write
the demanded length for this assignment. From his opinions and
professional stand point, I came up with the best three questions for
me not to get stuck while writing this long and treacherous assignment.
The questions I picked were number two, five, and eight. For number two
i am going to write about the posts on football because they were, of
course, my favorite blogs of all. And the other two questions are about
how I proofread/edited the posts and how i liked having a blog.

So this is the response to question number five. Question number five:
"If you used any quickwrites as blog posts, how did they change from
what you wrote by hand in class to what you published on your blog? In
other words, how did you go from rough draft to final draft? Explain
your revision/rewriting process." My first step in editing my blog post
that was based on a quick write was to check for any redundancy. Then
the next two steps, in either order, was to check fluency and then I
would check spelling.

The process actually changed between rewriting the quick write and
writing the blog for the first time. When I would write my blog for the
first time (such as writing a blog rough draft), I found that i did not
proofread it much. And if i did actually proofread it i would end up
making it more redundant trying to reach three hundred words.

Well writing my blog post based on the subject of the quick write, I
actually only did it once. But when i did do that one i went into deep
thought on how i was going to edit it. First, what i did, was that i
went threw my hand written quick write with a marking pen to cross out
any repetition. That is the main thing that i look for because it is
the one thing that you emphasize the most to us so i just go ahead and
get that pain staking process out of the way. I actually found my self
going over my work numerous times looking for repetition cause i do not
want to get that wrong. It seems to me that my natural way of writing
did not have much repetition but as i have started writing to a set
mark that has been given to me through this blog, i have needed to
stretch out the words so i repeat.

Like i said earlier, you emphasis repetition a lot in the classroom so it carries into my
blogging. But the mistake that i just figured out (as i am writing this
final) is that i go over the redundancy once i finish getting all of my
three hundred words. And because i find myself writing just to get a
little over and sometimes exactly three hundred words up, when i edit
the repetition out of one sentence, i have to put it into another just
to make "ends meet". This is something i actually just came across so i
am definitely going to have to change my writing. So my new way of
editing that i am going to try to imply in the future is that after i
write every little paragraph, without looking at word count, i am going
to edit that. And to solve my word count problem i am just going to
write way over three hundred just so i do not even have to worry about
it.

So like I said, i chose question number two: "2) Choose one of your posts. (Your favorite? Your least favorite? The one that surprises you the most when you reread it? Any the one you want to
pick.) Analyze it in detail, with quotes etc." This question can be really easy for me because it is asking me for a lot and if i choose the write blog to do I can write on the topic all day. I just have to find the best suitable/ favorite Blog post that i have written so i do not get writers block. So I chose the blog post that i did about my football game in week three. Against Encinal, in the nail house. Arguably the biggest rivalry game that i will ever play in.

My favorite blog post that i have done this year is of course the one against Encinal. i like this one because there is just so much about it that it is just "juicy". Like there is so much of this potential drama that could have just burst out and it would have been all bad. I feel that this blog had a lot of tension because it seems that i wrote it so well that the tension from the real life happenings carried into my writing. Like this quote that my Coach Halverson (AHS alumni and former football player) said days before the game so we would work harder: "this games that we are about to play in, against Encinal, could very well be the greatest and most intense games that most of you will ever play in." This alone just shows the reader that there is so much on the line. I had fellow students read this blog post and they just knew all the emotions that we felt durring the game by just reading this line.

Another thing that i love about this post is that it bring some personal aspects of my life into it. "On top of all this, i have hell of family that has gone there. Like almost Fifty went there. I even have three that are there right now." One of the three family members that goes there is like my best friend too. I am extremely close with her. Her name is Ja'aria and she is a senior. The other two are in my grade, Eric and Taylor. If that is not enough, one of them were in the game playing against me. Just reading this brought back so many memories of that game.

Later in my life i plan to pull this out and tell my kids about this game because it just means so much to me. And hanks to this blog this history, and part of my like will never be lost. Thanks Mr. Sutherland for making us write these weekly blogs. Even though they are very annoying i feel that i get a lot out of them.
By the way, We WHOOPED there ass'!!

writing groups

i am not really sure that i would like this whole idea of groups. I am almost torn apart on this subject weather i would like it or not. Because i honestly hate when people read or even make a comment about my writing. when they do so i feel like they are trying to put me on the spot and trying to me. like almost putting me on blast, or at least trying to. but on the other hand i have been trying to get out of my habit of being afraid to be judged or have all eyes on me so i have been doing things that i normally would not do so i think this could be useful. like just seeing how i can handle a lot of attention and criticism(productive criticism). on the subject of attention, i just want to say that i hate that the most in the world. most people that know this about me think that it is weird because i play sports and i get attention because of that but thats why i do not even want to play. thats my main concern with sharing the writing in these groups.

a suggestion that i have is that we should try is that we are in groups with peers we don't really talk to much to so they are not TOO comfortable but if that doesn't work, like if it is uncomfortable, it should be able to able to be changed. Basic, i feel that this whole group session thing should be flexible.
